About Scarborough Property

Scarborough is a charming seaside hamlet situated at the mouth of the Schusters River on the Cape Peninsula. This rustic little town was designated as a conservation village in April 1996, and as such Scarborough feels like a forgotten outpost, offering unparalleled peace, tranquility and rugged beauty. Scarborough really is a sleepy little village and essentially just a scattering of houses and beach homes on the steep mountains of Slangkop and Red Hill, overlooking the crashing Atlantic waves.

It is a nature-lover’s haven and seems worlds away from city life. Scarborough lies right next to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, which guarantees little property development here in the future and means that the suburb is blessed with incredible fauna and flora. The pace might be relaxed but Scarborough offers some of the best fishing and surfing on the peninsula. Body boarding, kite surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and crayfishing are all highly rated and summer sees an influx of visitors making the most of these opportunities.

Scarborough’s beach also has interesting walks along the craggy shore and some of the most amazing sunsets. Thanks to its status as a conservation village, the area is a birdwatchers paradise. The bay is also home to Cape Clawless otter and Southern Right Whales in season between June and November.
There are a few restaurants and a small shop, but Simons Town, Noordhoek and Fish Hoek are close by should you need to stock up on supplies. One of the local restaurants, the Camel Rock Restaurant, gets its name from the strangely shaped sandstone rock which is also a local landmark in Scarborough. Property for sale in this area offers the luxury of easy accessibility to the rest of the Cape Point Route, along with an easy going, rural lifestyle and unrivalled natural beauty.
