About Gardens Property
Gardens is on the border of the city bowl and is a trendy area made up mainly of old Victorian-property style homes, cottages and art deco apartment blocks. There are many fine restaurants, delis, bars and shopping close by with residents experiencing a relatively quiet lifestyle with the convenience of being in close proximity to the city bowl.
This popular suburb of Cape Town is located between Tamboerskloof and Oranjezicht – a mere stone’s throw from Cape Town’s city centre. This suburb is one of the city’s most popular and well established parts of the city. The suburb lies just at the foot of Table Mountain and is just outside the city’s bustle. The homes in this area – those that haven’t been rezoned into business residences or subdivided all have a colonial air about them. Some of these houses are authentic mansions, reminding residents and visitors of the history of the city.
It is not surprising that many of these properties have been converted to hotels and guest houses, with large rooms that have wooden floors and high ceilings. The property for sale in Gardens are largely being snapped up by businesses and entrepreneurs interested starting guest houses or hotels and benefitting from the City’s great tourism trade. Visitors and residents of Gardens can visit the Company Gardens, South Africa’s oldest garden which was started by Jan van Riebeeck when he came ashore in 1652. The Garden is located down Government Walk and has become synonymous with this suburb.
Trendy Long Street is nationally and internationally celebrated for its many restaurants, coffee shops, bistros and eateries offering an unconventional avenue for exploring Cape Town. Gardens offer quick access to the popular Atlantic beaches, the Table Mountain cableway and the V&A Waterfront. Other attractions include the Castle of Good Hope and many museums and galleries.
